FOUNDED

— ABOUT

From Texas to New Zealand, a band born on a Kawasaki road.

ROUTE14band is a jazz-influenced trumpet band based in Kawasaki, Japan, formed in 2010 by trumpet player Chihiro Yamazaki. The name comes from Kawasaki Prefectural Route 14 (Shitte-Kurokawa Road), where the founding members lived together when the band was first put together. None of them imagined, back then, that the band would still be playing 16 years later.

Since their 2012 Sapporo Park Jazz Live Contest Grand Prix, the band has performed at SXSW (10 appearances, 2013–2025), Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival in New Zealand (8 appearances, 2017–2025, with a 9th appearance scheduled for August 2026), Chilpo Jazz Festival in Korea, and venues across Asia.

Recent collaborations include My Hero (Higher) and Feeling Good (feat. Sage) with Nashville-based songwriting unit Golden West, Our Summer with Korean jazz fusion unit A-FUZZ, and Ghibli Reimagined with vocalist Ryu Miho — released worldwide in August 2025.
